Weekly Classes
The Mindfulness Meditation Classes are held in a hybrid format (in-person and online) every Friday. The teacher is usually remote, but occasionally present in person. Classes are cancelled when there is a weekend retreat: please check the schedule for specific dates.
To attend in person, please join us at 662 Pape Avenue, Toronto (side entrance, basement) of the Presbyterian Church. This is just a 5-minute walk from Pape Subway Station. No registration is necessary. If you would like to have some orientation with an experienced community member, simply arrive early.
Parking: Street parking is available. There is also a Green-P parking lot at the Church, one block south of Danforth.
To attend online, please send a request to torontomindfulnesscommunity@gmail.com to receive the link.
Please read our guidance document Your First Visit to TMC, before attending.
On April 4, Sept 19, and Nov 7, 2026 we will host special Introduction to Mindfulness classes – attendance at these classes is NOT a prerequisite to join us on Fridays.
Classes start at 7:00pm and run until 8:25pm. Please arrive by 6:50pm to get settled in. The class consists of sitting meditation, walking meditation, and a brief talk.
The meditation practice will start promptly at 7:00 with a guided meditation, followed by walking and movement meditation, and then silent practice. There will be a talk to end the session at 8:25pm.
Cost: In the traditional spirit of teachings available to all, there is no defined cost for participation in weekly practice. There is an opportunity to support the session costs with an offering of dana – donation according to one’s means.
Everyone is welcome.

Special class on April 10th @7pm with guest Larry Johanson
The Meditation Path Isn’t What You Think.
Peace doesn’t come first.
Silence doesn’t feel peaceful.
Doubt isn’t your enemy.
In this profoundly honest and moving talk, Larry Johanson explores the hidden forces that drive us toward meditation and awakening — suffering, longing, loss, and the relentless search for meaning. Drawing from over four decades years of lived Zen practice, this talk reveals why frustration, discomfort, and doubt are not signs of failure, but signs of transformation.
If you’ve ever questioned your path, your purpose, or your progress — this talk is for you.
Bio
Larry Johanson is a lifelong practitioner of Zen meditation and an explorer of the farther reaches of human potential. His quest for meaning and purpose was triggered by physical and emotional abuse at home and at school, as well as bullying on the streets of Kingston, Jamaica, where he stood out among his darker-skinned peers.
By his early teens, he was obsessed with 3 big existential questions which he became increasingly desperate to resolve: Who am I? Why am I here? What should I do with my life?
Larry is the author of “From Carp to Dragon” and “Mastering Breath Awareness” and motivational speaker and corporate trainer on personal development, leadership and effective communication skills.
